Niche Marketing
For the new affiliate marketer the big money in affiliate marketing is found in niche marketing. However, one of the perfect things about the Internet and online marketing is how it works as a reference. You now have online encyclopedias, dictionaries, White Pages and the Yellow Pages and even Google maps all at the tips of your fingers. How can this help you? Seeking a niche to market to is not always easy, need I repeat… References… Tools… Local Information…
What is niche marketing?
Niche Marketing is advertising/ marketing to a particular audience instead of a group at large. On the surface, this sounds a bit odd. The idea is that you want EVERYONE to buy from your website? Of course you do, who doesn’t want to watch their bank account grow by hour? Although, everything sounds great in theory making a site that appeals to everyone using unique content to sell your product(s) or someone else’s products that appeals to everyone is nearly impossible.
That’s where niche marketing comes in handy when done effectively. You select a product, say, Beef Jerky and other jerky meats. Let’s say you do your best to market these products to make money online. When you take on a niche product, you have to ask yourself a series of questions.
Who is going to buy my product(s)?
Well, if you’re selling Beef Jerky products, chances are you won’t be selling to many vegetarians or vegens. Your market is going to skew to meat eaters, so you want to write content that is going to appeal to a meat eater audience. Hold off on the slang, the off-color jokes and the pop-culture references. Keep it basic and to the point. With this niche you can even take it further and target meat eater campers and hunters.
What benefits does my product(s) have?
In this case, let’s say Beef Jerky Store, is a company that has been making quality jerky products for generations. You can play up the history of the company, the quality of the products. You can even play up the holidays using the product’s ability to make a great gift, since most companies seem to always peak during the holidays. Every product out there, every single one, has a list of benefits you can highlight. Make sure you know them and inform your customers about all of them.
Do I know enough about this product to write new, unique content about it every few weeks?
This is the BIG question. If you’re passionate about Beef Jerky and you love jerky products, then you should feel confident in your ability to write unique content articles about jerky products every few weeks. If you agreed to participate in an affiliate program only because the commission was high and you don’t know much about the product you’re selling, you might want to rethink your choice, or hire someone to write the content for you. While niche marketing may sound a bit odd on the surface, it really is the way to go. Making your site focused and concentrating your energy on a particular audience will make it seem more legitimate and you can count on better business in no time flat.
